Employment Agencies and advice when out of work.
If you are out of work it is important to register with your local Job Center ASAP to ensure your NI contributions are continued. For the first 13 weeks you DO NOT have to take any positions they offer you! In addition if you have redundancy cover on any financial commitments you HAVE to register with the Job Center (Check the small print).
Your first payment of insurance cover will normally start 30 days after your first payment for the job center. Your first payment from the Job center will be day of redundancy + time paid in leu + holiday. I was made redundant on the 30th June but was paid for July in Leu + I had 8 days holiday, my first payment will not be until the middle of August which means my financial commitments will not be paid until middle of September. Don't expect to get the money straight away as it can take upto 5 weeks to register your details. Look at your budget and contact your financial companies ASAP as they may be able to help whislt you wait for your claim.
If you do get a position whilst your claim is still going through you will be paid all that is owed to you.
Agencies
One of the best and easy ways to find a job is to register with an Employment Agency. You will find the staff very helpful and friendly. Training is available for you to brush up on those extra skills needed. They offer Permanent and Temporary positions, so give them a call and please mention my site.
Remember if you are temping to get your timesheet signed and in on time or your wage will be delayed. Trust me I have done it and you only forget once!
