D-Day

As far back as I can possibly imagine, I have had an interest in the D-day Landings. In November 1998 I fulfilled my ambition and went to Normandy. Using Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth to Caen (Ouistreham). www.brittany-ferries.com

Firstly there is finding a Hotel. Having a few French friends I was advised to try out the Formula 1 chain of overnight stay rooms. The price is around £15.00 per night per room, for an extra £2.00 you can have breakfast. The room has a double bed and a single bed. Complete with a wash basin, T.V. and alarm clock. The shower and toilets are about 3 meters away from the room which you share (individual cubicles) with other guests. Don't worry though, as there is plenty of them to go round. Even for £15.00 I could not believe the condition of the complex. Everything was spotless not a thing out of place.
